Effects of treatment with SS (gray dotted line, n = 18), SSM (gray solid line, n = 15), and VSM (black solid line, n = 13) on the survival curves of rats with chronic heart failure. Treatment started 14 days after myocardial infarction (MI) induced by coronary artery ligation. Compared with the SS group, VSM significantly (P = 0.022) improved the survival rate for a 50-day observation. No significant difference was found between the VSM and SSM groups
