The effects of GABAa receptors and glycine receptors on MPP-DG synaptic plasticity. Picrotoxin (PTX) blocked the induction of the LTD observed under the control conditions (CTL). The potentiation magnitude observed under the picrotoxin conditions did not differ from that seen under the bilobalide (BB) conditions. HFS induced LTP under the picrotoxin with bilobalide (PTX + BB) conditions. HFS also induced LTD under the strychnine (STR) conditions. The black bar shows the timing of the application of picrotoxin, picrotoxin with bilobalide, or strychnine. The findings obtained under the control (CTL) conditions (open circles) and the bilobalide (BB) conditions (filled circles) were the same as those shown in Fig. 2b.
