Effect of ambient temperature on gene expression in interscapular fat of Syrian hamsters. Interscapular fat tissues were obtained from 7- to 25-day-old Syrian hamsters bred at 23 or 30 °C. Gene expression of uncoupling protein 1 (Ucp1; a), cytochrome c oxidase subunit IV (Cox4; b), and vascular endothelial growth factor A (Vegfa; c) was measured (mean ± SE, n = 4 per group, two-way ANOVA followed by the Tukey–Kramer post hoc test). Asterisk indicates significant difference at P  < 0.05 compared to day 7 of the same group; daggar indicates significant different at P < 0.05 between the 23 °C group and 30 °C group.
