The diagram of thalamic ventral posteriorlateral (VPL) neuron recording following spinal hemisection. The recording of the contralateral side (uninjured side) VPL neurons was performed by applying mechanical stimuli to the ipsilateral (injured) side of the hindpaw. In the ipsilateral (injured) side, the recording of thalamic VPL neurons was performed by applying mechanical stimuli to the contralateral side of the hindpaw. Thalamic regions were captured according to rat brain atlas (X-axis laterally from midline, Y-axis depth from surface).
